Filipe Gonçalo Andrade da Silva

Short biography

Filipe Silva Completed the PhD in Mechanical engineering in 2020/05/27 by FEUP -Faculty of Engineering from the University of Porto, Portugal . In 2012 He got a master's degree in Mechanical Engineering from Department of Engineering of the UTAD - University of Trás-os-Montes e Alto Douro, Vila Real, Portugal.

In the last decade he has been exclusively dedicated to scientific research. With activities developed at FEUP and INEGI - Institute of Science and Innovation in Mechanical and Industrial Engineering, where he was a scholarship holder, PhD student, researcher and student supervisor. During this period he was integrated into the LAETA - Laboratory for Energy Transports and Aeronautics.

Published about 40 articles in journals. Co-supervised 1 PhD thesis. Co-supervised 7 Master thesis’s. Has received 2 awards and/or honours - FEICA / EURADH ADHESION INNOVATION AWARD 2020.

His scientific work is recognized by the acceptance of his publications and the awards he received.
He is an active researcher in the fields of numerical modelling, finite element methods, cohesive zone models for fracture behaviour characterisation, adhesive joint design and fatigue/durability analyses of adhesive joints, Fracture toughness, Ultrasonic testing, Giga-Cycle Fatigue, Microstructural defects.

Now it faces the challenge of making research time compatible with teaching work and maintaining production rates with the same scientific quality demonstrated in this decade.
